Web 2.0 is great

Briefly, this Becta report shows that web2.0 tools can really make a difference to teaching and learning, with 11-16 yr olds - but teachers need more time to encourage pupils (and teachers) to utilise their personal use into learning scenarios.

"However, the majority of teachers questioned had never used Web 2.0 applications in lessons, despite being frequent users of technology in their personal and professional lives."

I suspect another barrier to them being used in the classroom maybe that school filtering blocks access to some of them. It's hard to even discuss their use when some pupils/teachers can't see an example of what you are talking about.

Good point Nikki!
I'm hoping that schools will start to see the benefits of the web2 tools being rolled out through Kaleidos. Also, I expect this first attempt at blogging will move over too, as more Derbyshire schools come on board.
